I lub you too

I was watching some Gracie videos from March of this year. She was quite the little talker even then, but sounded like she was speaking in a foreign language I've never heard of. So expressive with her tones, expressions, and hands.

She can say her own name now, and momma, and all of her friends and families names too.

She repeats after everything I say --- I am being extra careful with what comes out of my mouth. She copies everything I do.

She's saying lots of real sentences now like 'where are you' and 'see ya later', and her newest one, 'I lub you too'. .......heart melting........

I 'lub' this kid so darn much.

Great Expectations

Im not sure why this fathers day was so difficult. Maybe the reality of it all has finally sunk in. Even after a million let downs, I somehow always seem to have these great expectations of Gracie's father. After receiving zero recognition on mothers day from him, I don't know why I expected anything different today. I dont want to live in anger and i want to show Grace what is right. So Gracie's beautiful homemade card still sits on our kitchen table. Another let down. I am grateful that I got to spend today with my daughter. He doesn't know what he is missing!

making memories

I took Grace to the High Park Zoo last weekend. There were little chicks, or ducklings, I'm not sure. We got to hold them and watch them eat and play. There were llamas, and reindeer, and peacocks, and swans. I don't know who had more fun - me or Grace?! It's a beautiful park with so much to do. It makes me sad to think the zoo could be shutting down soon, and I hope they can find enough donations to stay alive. We both had a lovely nap underneath a big oak tree that afternoon.
On Monday, I bought our very first kitchen table. Grace has outgrown her highchair (not because she is too big, but because she wants to sit like a big kid). She is quite happy to sit at the table for meals now, but won't eat until "mommy sit" too. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from sitting at the kitchen table with my family, eating dinner together, blowing out birthday candles, colouring easter eggs, playing board games.

Since we are not the typical 'family' I am making it my mission to instill the same family values in Grace that I had growing up, and make beautiful memories for us to share together.
